Alltraders has assisted our clients to achieve acclaim in their fields of business and marketing.

This year, both a current client, Coastal Skydive, and previous client, Harbour Town, have again been awarded in the South Australian Tourism Awards. This marks three years running that two of Alltraders' web department clients have both been winners and runners up in these awards.

Coastal Skydive has just been awarded Silver in the 2015 SA Tourism Awards for Adventure Tourism, following their first Silver award last year.

Since 2013, Alltraders has assisted Coastal Skydive with advancing functionality in their bookings and skydive/flight scheduling systems (with the foundations developed by Lightbulb Digital), as well as development of a new parachute rig maintenance system, and working closely with them to manage visual design improvements, their website content, SEO, and growth into Coastal Thrill Flights and the recently launched Skydive Langkawi.

Congratulations to Mark and the team at Coastal Skydive!

Harbour Town Shopping Centres around Australia are also seeing continual success following work performed by Alltraders, with Harbour Town Adelaide being awarded Gold in the 2015 SA Tourism Award for Specialised Tourism Services.

Google made an important announcement in late February that may affect your website’s rankings in Google. In fact, this happens to be a pretty significant change for your Google rankings, especially for your mobile traffic.

Mobile friendly google search rankings

What was the announcement?

Websites will be ranked and marked as mobile friendly in Google search results beginning on the 21st of April 2015 (taking into account time zone differences, most likely this means from Wednesday the 22nd in Australia).

In summary, to quote the Google Webmaster Central blog/Google+:

1. Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal, meaning more #mobilefriendly sites in search results.- Google

This is the first major update in recent times from the leading search engine in Australia that will affect mobile rankings, and more specifically, is expected to significantly affect the display of the organic search results of your website on mobile devices.

Will this affect your current website?

If it’s been a while since your website was designed and developed, it may not be optimised for mobiles. If this is the case, or if you’re unsure, you can check if your website is mobile-friendly.

If your website already passes Google’s mobile-friendliness test, great! Your rankings in mobile search are most likely set to improve. If you’re unsure, or if your website fails the mobile-friendliness test, continue reading on, as this may affect your business.

Is designing and detailing taking up an inordinate amount of time in your sales process?

Having a web-based quoting system has many benefits, including access by many users from many locations, with minimal computing requirements and reduced application support and maintenance.

The next logical step to improving an online quoting system is to add a graphical component to increase efficiency, improve the accuracy of quoting and streamlining the detailing and manufacturing process.

MySys Graphical Skylight Adding Animation

The use of a graphical interface may not be suitable for everyone, so ask yourself: do you have a repeatable process within defined parameters but it is laborious and resource intensive to do by hand? If so, you may well benefit from a graphical design front end.

If you are an owner or manager of a business that provides goods and/or services to customers in a competitive market, then chances are you are acutely aware of the value of a lead.

Many articles have been written on lead generation but what about when that oh-so-valuable lead finally comes along? What process is in place to ensure that it is recorded, worked thoroughly and hopefully converted into a quote and eventually a sale?

Having invested heavily in the lead generation strategy, what lead management system do you use to ensure that the investment has the best chance to provide a return?

If your lead management system consists of rough notes on backs of envelopes placed on the pile of paperwork on the sales manager’s desk - or similar - it may not surprise you that research shows that up to 55% of small businesses don’t follow up on new leads.

Investing in an electronic, cloud based lead management system would seem the answer to protecting the investment that has been made in generating the leads. So what should one look for when researching the myriad of lead management options that are available?

A successful lead management system may vary from a shared, stand-alone spreadsheet to a fully integrated and customizable CRM system. In all cases the following points should be considered and applied to all options before the final decision is made.

The goal of a website is normally for it to “convert” in one way or another—think product sales or engaged users (for example, the goal might be to get the user to make contact with you about a product or service).

With that in mind, there are some very simple things I have learned over the years that can help a website convert, or perform, slightly better—and they don’t need to cost a lot of time or money.

As a web designer and developer I normally find myself wanting to scrap a website and start from scratch when I’m presented with the goal of improving it, but I know very well that this isn’t always the most viable option. I’m learning that simply tweaking a few things in the current website can be very effective, as well as economical.

Here are just a few things to get you started.
